Our premises present, on the ground floor, a referenced restaurant of traditional cuisine, still cooking after the best recipes from Granny Micas; our seven thematic rooms and Granny’s Room are on the 1st and 2nd; and at the Next Door House (connected to the main building) five studio flats are available for lodging.
As the oldest establishment of the city, the Laranjeira family – in its third generation of management – decided for a makeover of the old inn telling stories about the family and depicting customs while recalling traditions of Viana.
Francisco Laranjeira and his Maria – Granny Micas – arrived in 1946 to Viana do Castelo and nowadays, at the age of 94, Granny still wanders through the house greeting our visitors. Granpa is still an inspiration for those that came next, José Laranjeira (son) and I, Helena Laranjeira (granddaughter).
From a regional eatery to a restaurant of reference, from Moderna Inn to Laranjeira Inn and Restaurant, it took over 70 years dedicate to serve all those that honoured us with their visit. And so we intend to keep on writing down all the many stories of a long life.
A more careful presentation, choosing healthier cooking processes and offering a menu that covers different diets, accomplishes this influence. Thus, we bet on a heterogeneous team - by age diversity and gender - sharing knowledge, allowing us to continue making history for another 70 years!
Embroidery, cabeçudos mascots and regional tableware are some of the ideas under the making process ... With this new project we intend to extend our range of services, providing 5 fully equipped apartments to the historical centre. We are proud to contribute to a qualified urban regeneration by preserving the building's original facade and some of the source materials.
